The Roanoke Valley Children’s Choir and Opera Roanoke

Celebrating favorite songs from Broadway, Movies, and Opera!

May 2nd, 2021 at 3:00pm at the Salem Football Stadium

Announcing..... A special joint concert with the Roanoke Valley Children’s Choir and Opera Roanoke, "Sing Spectacular"! Celebrating favorite songs from Broadway, Movies, and Operas! May 2, 2021 at 3:00pm at the Salem Football Stadium.

Opera Roanoke, under the direction of Maestro Steven White and the Roanoke Valley Children’s Choir under the direction of Kimberly Ruse Davidson will be performing favorite songs from Movies, Broadway and Opera.  The Opera Chorus and the RVCC will sing together “Evening Prayer” from Hansel and Gretel, “Va Pensiero” from Nabucco, and “The Humming Chorus” from Madame Butterfly. Opera Roanoke will continue with Opera favorites and RVCC will add songs from Annie, Oliver, Grease, The Greatest Showman, The Wizard of Oz and Singin in the Rain.

Singers will be wearing masks and safely spaced 10 feet apart. For sound, will be using 100 individual microphones with a full sound system provided by Stage Sound. Stadium seating will be carefully socially distanced in family groups or as individuals or sets of 2. Masks are required for all audience members.

Tickets will be for sale starting March 22, 2021, from the Salem Civic Center:

  • In-person at the Salem Civic Center Box office, open Monday - Friday, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm (go in-person to avoid added fees).

  • Online at Salemciviccenter.com (through Ticketmaster with added fees)

Adults $23, $12 for Children 6-12, Children 5 and under are free.

Tickets will be sold in groups of four or two people with assigned seating for social distancing. Some single tickets will be available.

The Roanoke Valley Children’s Choir offers an in-depth pre-professional choral program of 3 training choirs and a concert choir for youth ages 7-18. The new “Little Singers Class and Choir”, directed by Ms. Kirsti Davidson is a choral introduction for our youngest singers, ages 4-6. 


Recent featured performances for the RVCC Concert Choir include the 2008, 2014, and 2020 Southern Division American Choral Director Conventions, the 2015 ACDA National Convention in Salt Lake City, a solo performance at Carnegie Hall in 2016, solo and festival performances in Canterbury Cathedral in 2017 and the solo Liturgical Choir at the National Cathedral in 2019.
