2nd-6th Grade “Singers Across America” Program

YOU Can Sign Up To Join the “Singers Across America” Virtual Choir Program this Fall 2020!

We are excited to be offering a NEW Virtual Choir Experience in the Roanoke Valley Children’s Choir! We are extending our nationally recognized and award winning choral program to include singers from all across America! The Roanoke Valley Children’s Choir has been teaching music, building character, and shaping children’s voices since 1987 in Roanoke, Virginia under the direction of Kimberly Ruse Davidson. Our Choir has sung at numerous honor performances across the country and around the world!

For this semester only, we are offering a fully virtual choir experience that you can join from any state in the USA! This long-distance virtual choir program is available for children in 2nd-6th grade (ages 7-11) with no audition required. Simply fill out the form at the bottom of this page. Sing from home and join us on this exciting adventure through music! Meet new friends from around the country! Learn new songs, discover new skills, and find your voice through the joy of singing together!

Virtual Choir Program INFORMATION

• Ages: Rising 2nd – 6th Grade (Ages 7-11)

• Choir: You will virtually join either the “A Choir” or “B Choir” in our Children’s Choir Choral program

• Fall Semester: August 17th – November 8th, 2020

• Cost: $225 per child for the semester

• Payments: 3 payments of $75 (Payments due in August, Sept, and Oct.)

Rehearsals will include:  

1. Mondays 4:00-4:30 EST on ZOOM Video Chat

2. Instructional Video Rehearsals sent to watch at home on your own

3. Live-streamed version of our in-person rehearsals will be posted on Saturdays

• Costume: Plain Black T-Shirt

• Sheet Music: Printable PDF’s of the music will be sent for you to download and print on your own.

• Repertoire: Song choices for our youngest choirs have been chosen to be especially well suited to the current times, fun and engaging for the children to sing, and provide opportunities for learning the best singing techniques and music fundamentals.

We will be singing:

• When Christmas Comes to Town (from the Polar Express)

• Edelweiss (from the Sound of Music)

• We Need a Little Christmas (with Virtual Choir Choreography!)

• Get Back Up Again (from the Movie “Trolls”)

• Let There Be Peace on Earth (verse 1 only)

• Sing Legato Music Warm-ups #1-7

• Many vocal warm-ups to practice various singing techniques and vowel sounds

Technology Needed to Participate in the Virtual Choir Program:

1.       Access to standard device for watching and participating in online video rehearsals - this can be a computer, laptop, Chromebook, tablet, iPad, or mobile phone.

2.       Reliable Internet access.

3.       Headphones or earbuds.

4.       A second additional device (mobile phone) will be needed on your one audio recording day. (You will need 2 separate devices at the same time on this one day – ex. a laptop AND mobile phone, OR 2 different mobile phones.)

5.       Printer to print your PDF Sheet Music
