Ms. Kimberly Davidson: RVCC Founder, Administrator, and Full Time Artistic Director

Kimberly is the founding director of the Roanoke Valley Children’s Choir. She has served as both artistic director and administrative director of the Children’s Choir since 1987.  Under her 35 years of direction, the choir has grown from 23 singers to a choral program including 240 children, ages 7-18 in four choirs.

Ms. Davidson’s goal as a director is to not only bring out the beauty in the music, but also the beauty in the child, and their capacity to find beauty and joy even during the most difficult of times. She is known for her warm smile, her serious work ethic and mostly for her sincere love for the choristers. Her combination of enthusiasm and love, for the children and music, make this not only her life’s work, but also her passion.

A graduate of Valparaiso University, Indiana, Kimberly briefly taught school choir classes and directed church choirs before founding the Roanoke Valley Children’s Choir in 1987.   Ms. Davidson serves as adjudicator, guest director, and festival choral director on numerous occasions, recently directing the Georgia ACDA Honor Treble Honor Choir in 2017 and the Alabama ACDA Young Voices Festival in 2019.

Kimberly has a full schedule of private piano students along with her favorite occupation, the full time administrator and artistic director for the Roanoke Valley Children’s Choir. Kimberly is now serving her 35th year as director of the Roanoke Valley Children’s Choir.

Kirsti Davidson: RVCC Assistant Musical Director

Kirsti Davidson is the resident RVCC composer, arranger, choreographer, and logistics concert manager. She is also the director of the RVCC “Little Singers Class”, where she balances teaching a proper “ooh” and “ah” vowel to 4-6 year olds, mixed in with fun and silly songs accompanied by her ukulele. She is equally comfortable with our High School singers and is a driving force behind the repertoire selections and artistic details, especially for the Concert Choir. Kirsti is a creative piano instructor developing a new method for preschoolers and produces two summer camps for young singers. Her joy for spreading the love of music is evident to all who work with her.

The RVCC regularly performs Kirsti’s original compositions and arrangements. In 2016 the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra and Symphony Chorus performed Kirsti’s composition, “Now and Forever” to a rousing standing ovation.
