A, B, B+ Choir - About Costumes This Year
Note: The first formal dress day is Oct. 24th. Please try to have a full at-home costume check on Oct. 17th, so you have time to address any issues (can’t find white shirt, black pants, socks, tights, black shoes, hair bows, etc.).
Dear RVCC A/B/B+ Choir Parents,
Due to COVID-19 and trying to limit everyone’s collective exposure of face to face time, we have tried to streamline formal costume ordering by moving the ordering process online - as much as possible.
Here is our plan:
1. Measure for costume at home: Instead of having costume fitting days at Bethel Baptist, you will need to measure your chorister at home to determine the size that works the closest for the given costume. At the bottom of this page are the directions for measuring your chorister and size charts for each costume.
2. Order Costume:
(Used) Costume consignment Facebook Groups: Instead of the consignment costume sales being handled as drop off - with everyone meeting and trying on as a group - we have set up a Private Facebook group for A/B/B+ costumes, and a separate page/group for C choir, and sellers will “list” their costume by type, size, current length of dress, any other known alterations, and asking price. Potential buyers will sign up with their contact information, or you can use Facebook messenger to connect and, on a first come, first serve basis, arrange a fitting on your own time and location to determine if the costume is a good match for the chorister. Buyers are not obligated to buy the costume until they know it fits, and you are not obligated to make sure they are the first person who tries on the costume, if they are unable to take your first available time slot. Hopefully, having the size charts ahead of time will help narrow the trying on. Please comment when it is sold, or remove the item from the page. The administrator will also moderate and remove items as they are sold. You may have to ask to join multiple groups if you are selling from one choir and buying from another choir (ex: selling an A/B dress but looking for a C dress). Pricing for resale: we suggest 1/2 price for used costumes.

(New) Order new costume on “Active Network”: If no resale costume is found, then you will need to buy a new costume through Active Network. All costumes need to be ordered through Active Network by August 17th, the first day of choir. It normally takes 4-6 weeks to receive our costume order and you will need to allow 2 weeks for any alterations. The first formal dress day is Oct. 24th. Please try to have a full at-home costume check on Oct. 17th, so you have time to address any issues (can’t find white shirt, black pants, socks, tights, black shoes, hair bows, etc.) The other issue, related to the pandemic, is that much of the material for costumes comes from overseas. Both of the vendors currently have material for our costumes, but a backorder on material later in the ordering season could mean a more significant delay.
We hope this has explained clearly the costume ordering process for this choir year. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach our to our Costume Committee members - we want to help!
Warmly,
The A/B/B+ Formal Costume Committee
